The Amazing Grace quartet is made up of members of the Salem UMC family. The group plays for the morning service each Sunday and at other events for the church. They also play at other churches in the Southeastern Virginia/Northeastern North Carolina region, and are performing members of Tidewater Arts Outreach (TAO). TAO is a group of amateur, professional and semi-professional musicians, artists and artisans who volunteer their time and talent to "…bring quality music and arts experiences to people in Hampton Roads who are in homes, hospitals, shelters, facilities and dependent care programs or otherwise are isolated from society."
Amazing Grace was originally formed in 2004 to be the praise band for Salem UMC. Over time, the group has evolved into a quartet that plays a mix of Southern Gospel, traditional hymns and some more contemporary Christian music. The quartet also plays a blend of country, Americana and folk music, as well as Gospel music when performing as members of TAO.
Amazing Grace is Charles Higgins, Rhonda Meehan, Sharon Nolin and Craig Nolin.
